THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity to join The Foundation as we transition from a business development approach to the next phase of expansion. This is a unique opportunity for a go getter, ready to make their mark and influence the direction of The Foundation.

The Chief Representative, Hong Kong and ASEAN is accountable for leading fundraising and strategy for Hong Kong and ASEAN, manage HK-ASEAN operations for the Public Affairs Division, and serve as liaison point for China government resource development strategy.

ABOUT YOU

You have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a wide variety of diverse relationships utilising a collaborative and consultative approach to communication. You will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make clear and highly articulate presentations to a variety of high-level stakeholders and pro-actively engage with and influence audiences across a range of channels. You will also have excellent persuasion and negotiating abilities, effective listening, diplomacy and tact and you will be confident in ask strategy and conversations with key stakeholders including donors.

You will have the ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment. Furthermore, you will have the ability to conceptualise, innovate, analyse, plan, and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills. You will be a people manager with the willingness to build capacity and develop your team. Finally, this is an exciting opportunity to drive and influence the localisation priorities of an international NGO, enabling a go-getter to truly make his/her mark on the future of the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Budgeting

  • Lead the development of the Hong Kong and Singapore strategy.
  • Lead budgeting and reporting of financial performance

Leadership and Representation

  • Lead the Hong Kong and Singapore team, steward organisation culture and oversee development of staff.
  • Build Relationships with key stakeholders including FHF Hong Kong Entity Board members; advisory groups; FHF Board and CEO; international market leads; key funding stakeholders China, HKSAR and Singapore Government stakeholders; and champions.

Delivery of Strategy

  • Drive implementation of innovative strategies in each market to achieve revenue KPIs.
  • Lead implementation of a multi-channel Individual Giving Program in HK (and other Asia new markets) including development of new platforms such as DRTV
  • Grow revenue across individual giving, major donors, corporates, foundations, and community partnerships.
  • Support implementation of securing government funding in the Greater China market
  • Lead development of strong fundraising business development pipeline
  • Scope and lead business planning for new market entry in Asia
  • Collaborate with Programs and senior leaders globally to capitalise on major funding opportunities.

Delivery of Local Program

  • Drive development, implementation and review of local Hong Kong program revolving around refractive error.
  • Support partnership stewardship of key organisational stakeholders in the region such as the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI)

Brand Stewardship

  • Drive marketing and PR strategy for Hong Kong and ASEAN, considering legal requirements and other constraints.
  • Oversee the development of marketing collateral, especially for major gifts.
  • Events planning

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Proven experience of achieving fundraising results, including successful relationship management and income generation in a start-up environment
  • Proven experience in being successful in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities, paying close attention to details and results.
  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Senior personal and professional network in HK
  • Experience cultivating and closing donor deals.
  • Management experience, specifically managing direct reports in addition to indirect/consultant reports.
  • Fundraising experience in a fast paced, growth-oriented organisation
  • Demonstrated experience working in the Not-for-Profit sector.
  • Experience managing a business unit including P&L responsibilities.
  • Media management experience, either as spokesperson or in an oversight role of a paid media program
  • Cantonese and basic Mandarin language skills are desirable.
  • Program or operations experience in the development sphere.
  • Experience working/living in more than one Asian context.
  • Available to travel as often, as once every 2 months.
