The Fred Hollows Foundation is one of Australia’s most respected and trusted international development organisations whose vision is to end avoidable blindness and ensure the work of Fred Hollows lives on.

Ethiopia is one of The Foundation’s largest funded programs, focused on the Elimination of Trachoma. Up until now our program has focused on the complex and direct delivery of services to help those in need. With strong foundations in place, we are now looking to enter a new phase of our programming building on the work that we have already done.

About the Position

The Fred Hollows Foundation is currently working in 5 countries in Africa namely Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Eritrea. Under the direction and supervision of the Grants Coordinator – Africa, the Grants - Officer is accountable for supporting the grants management/administration and successful delivery of all the institutional donor-funded grants and projects in the Africa Region, In addition to this the Grants offer will also provide support to business development activities, in line with The Foundation’s strategic framework.

Specific responsibilities include

· Grants Management and Administration Support

· Support the maintenance and management of systems and processes relating to the Africa grants, partnerships and sub-Awards

· Provide on-going grants management support, through coordination with country teams, to ensure all donor reports and deliverables are submitted in accordance and compliance with the contract.

· Support the completion and submission of donor narrative and financial reports.

· Ensure all contractual and project implementation documentation is updated and maintained throughout the life of the project.

· Contribute to the ongoing monitoring and strengthening of compliance with donor requirements

Grants Acquisition and Business Development Support

· Maintain pipeline of donor opportunities and track internal proposal development.

· Research, analyse and identify prospective donors and forecast potential grant opportunities.

· Support the Programs team (country, regional and technical teams) in resource mobilisation and grants acquisition efforts as required.

· Participate in partner, donor and networking meetings and events to establish and maintain relationships and stay abreast of development trends.

About You! To be successful in this role, we are seeking someone with the following experience and skills.

· Five years previous experience working within the International Development sector.

· Previous project and grant management experience with major institutional donors such as DFAT, DFID, USAID, EU etc.

· Experience working on international development projects with INGOs or similar organisations.

· Knowledge of donor contracts and agreements.

· Extensive knowledge of donor requirements, especially reporting.

· Experience with budget development and monitoring

· Understanding of the project management cycle including project development/design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation
